Horses
The Horse tab is your horse's home in Saddle. It opens straight onto your horse's profile — their photo, name, and quick access to blanket suggestions and documents. If you have more than one horse, you can switch between them from the same screen.
Add your first horse
If you haven't added a horse yet, the Horse tab shows a welcome screen.
- Tap Add Your First Horse.
- The New horse form opens. Type your horse's name at the top — it's the only required field.
- Optionally fill in the rest:
- Color — pick from a list of coat colors.
- Breed — pick from a list of breeds.
- Birth date — choose a date (used to show your horse's age).
- Barn — assign the horse to one of your barns. This row only appears if you belong to a barn.
- Tap Add horse.
To add another horse later, open the horse switcher (see below) and tap Add horse.
Add a photo
Tap the camera disc next to the name field on the horse form. Choose a photo, then frame it in the crop editor — one photo gives your horse both a round avatar and a wide profile banner. You can change the photo any time from Horse settings.
Switch between horses
On the Horse tab, tap the arrow next to your horse's name. The Your horses sheet opens with all of your horses — tap one to switch to it. The active horse is marked with a check.
The same sheet is where you'll find Horse settings for the current horse and Add horse.
Edit a horse's details
- Open the horse switcher and tap Horse settings (or tap Manage Horses at the bottom of the horse profile).
- The Edit horse screen shows everything in one place: the photo, the name, and the Color, Breed, Birth date, and Barn rows.
- Tap any row to change it. Each change saves immediately — there's no separate save button. The name saves when you finish typing.
You can clear an optional field (color, breed, birth date, or barn) from its row.
Move a horse to a different barn
On the Edit horse screen, tap the Barn row and pick a barn. You can also clear the barn to make the horse personal again. Moving a horse changes who can see it — see below.
Who can see my horse?
- Horses without a barn are private to you.
- Horses assigned to a barn are visible to everyone in that barn. Barn members can see your horse — for example on your member profile — and can open its details in a read-only Horse info view.
- Only you, the owner, can edit or archive your horse.
Blanket suggestions
The Tonight's Blanket section on the horse profile suggests which blanket your horse should wear tonight, based on the overnight forecast at their barn. Tap it to set up and manage blankets. See Blankets.
Horse documents
The Documents section on the horse profile stores your horse's paperwork — vet records, registration papers, and anything else worth keeping with the horse. Tap it to view or add documents. See Documents.
Archive a horse
- Open Horse settings.
- Tap the … button in the top corner.
- Confirm Archive.
Archiving removes the horse from your list. This can't be undone.
Tips
- Everything on the Horse tab works offline. Changes save on your phone right away and upload automatically when you're back online.
- Pull down on the horse profile to refresh it, including tonight's blanket suggestion.
- If a horse form field doesn't matter to you, skip it — only the name is required.
